Customer Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Warm and Comfy! This is a fantastic item for layering. Zip-out lining is warm as a stand alone piece. Cool CCW features on this as well. Highly recommend!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Quality Product Presents Value I received the parka a few days ago and decided to return it. However this is not an indictment on the quality of the coat, there are just a few nuances that I personally am not willing to live with. The outer shell is totally bulletproof (as it relates to weather - this is a tactical gear site after all). It is waterproof and the seams do appear to be sealed. The material is sufficient to withstand the abuse you would expect from a tactical jacket. The pockets are roomy and the magnets on the outer document pockets are a nice touch. The zippers are not waterproof I don't think (I may be wrong here) but are substantial, easily handle the hard use of a tactical environment with or without shooting gloves. The side access zips are placed sufficiently to allow access anywhere from the thigh above the belt line from the 10 or 2 position to the 4 or 8 o'clock positions around the body. The snap at the bottom of the hem works great to allow the zipper to be up and keep the hem closed when you don't need current access but will imminently such as during a high but not emergent threat level. The fit is sufficient to cover any CCW gear, and most first line kit. You could probably conceal body armor, but I would recommend sizing up. While the cut is generous, it is not baggy and does present a professional appearance. The removable liner is very warm. Seconds after putting the coat on in my living room I was ready to take it off. It is only October so I cannot attest to the wind protection or how it will feel in real cold, but I am confident the liner is plenty warm. (I own a OR sweatshirt made out of similar material, and it is the lightest sweatshirt I own and is also the warmest. The liner reminds me of this) I also purchased the tech sweater which is also very warm, and fits perfectly in the parka, replacing the liner that came with the coat. The hood, pull tabs, zippers and all other hardware are of superior quality and I predict will last for quite some time. What I don't like: The liner, while warm, is clingy and sticks to the garments causing them to bunch up. With a fleece on, the first time I put on the coat, the liner grabbed the sleeve of my fleece and pulled through the wrist opening on the coat. I had to reach inside and while holding the end of my fleece, pull the liner back into a proper position so that I could insert the other arm. The same thing happened on the other arm. Once I got the coat on, the liner was stuck to the fleece and made the fleece and parka feel twisted under the shell. I removed the fleece and donned a flannel shirt. Similar result. It was not until I tried on a down shirt (that has a nylon outer surface) that I was able to put the parka on without conducting some sort of push/pull adjustment process to get the liner into a place good enough to get both arms in and the thing zippered up. In fairness, the problems I described above were not monumental, and only took seconds to correct. For many this may not be a big deal. I purchased a fire hose shirt-jack from Duluth Trading a few years ago and it had a fleece lining. I loved the rough and tough exterior so I dealt with the clinginess of the liner. I did however get sick of it and closeted the thing until such a time as I have sufficient disposable income to have a quilted nylon liner with thinsulate replace the fleece liner. Similarly, my decision to return the parka is a personal preference, something that I personally choose not to deal with, and there are many several thousands who gladly deal with it every day. In the case of this parka, I think the liner is an issue I am personally not willing to deal with. However, I do not suppose to recommend anyone else away from this great coat due to my own idiosyncrasies. It will likely work just fine for the masses. And at this price point, even with the liner as is, anyone would be hard pressed to find a parka with similar features, and of this quality. There is significant value here. My one recommendation to Propper would be to swap the liner for something with a quilted nylon surface that will glide over mid layers both going on and coming off. That will make this parka perfect for the money.

The Parka comes with a zip-in fleece liner and also works with our Full Zip Tech Sweater. Those are the only liners we recommend using.

How long is size XL tall from shoulder to hem? I'm 6ft 4in & jackets less than 35 inches aren't an option.

Asked by: monkman06
This parka extends below the waistline, so you will probably be okay with the XL Tall size.
