The Propper® Short Sleeve Covert Button-Up looks and feels like a casual plaid shirt, but gives you the full tactical advantage with its hidden false-button closure, discreetly tailored tear-away side seams and dual chest document pockets with quiet magnet closures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Frantastic concealed carry shirt! Have Woolrich tactical and 5.11 concealed carry shirts, but this is the best of the breed by far. First and foremost, they come out of the dryer looking like they have been ironed. Wrinkle free! Second, the cloth and the build of the shirts are first quality. Extremely comfortable. And finally, if you are a fan of the 5.11 holster shirt, this shirt was made for it. I have been looking for this! All I had to do was cut out the mesh on the inside of the "map pocket" and now when I reach through the magnet opening, I have instant access to my firearm on the one side and my mag on the other side, stowed in my 5.11 holster t-shirt

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best of it's Kind I've had two of these shirts for a couple years and love them. I wear them to and from work as cover shirts, which is why I think they were made a size larger than you'd expect. There's a pen slot in a sleeve which is another feature probably only appreciated by LE. The magnetic pocket clasp is awesome for my cell phone (or extra mags if you're hardcore). The zippered pocket is perfect for my keys. The buttons are actually snaps which you can pull open very quickly if you need access to items on your belt in a hurry. The fabric is slightly stiff and the print pattern is busy so your weapon (and whatever else you're carrying) won't imprint easily. Good quality construction and overall probably one of the best products of its kind.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unwearable for me I bought two of these shirts, appear to be made well, unfortunately they are really wrinkled. I cant iron out the wrinkles, the fabric being used on these shirts is really light and will not release the wrinkles, after ironing I still cant wear these to work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow! More than I expected! I like the extra "real" button. I'm used to the noisy hook and loop closure on the hidden chest pockets. The magnetic closure is fantastic! I also like the shoulder pockets. I have them on some of my Polos, but I can't tell you how nice it is to have it on a "button up" shirt. The side breakaways were also a pleasant surprise, however, why the hook and loop? Did you run out of magnets? Overall these (I bought two) are my favorite tactical shirts I own. Oh, and I also love the lightweight material. They're so much better engineered, now I hope they hold out longer too. Time will tell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good shirt, I bought all four colors looking for a way to easily access what’s needed easily. Shirts are nice plaid print breaking up any ‘light’ printing...***recommendation***sew little pocket on inside of shirt at bottem to slip quarter or washer in to weight down for those that apendex carry to keep shirt from blowing in the wind...I’m 6 foot 220lb and a large fits perfect‼️

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Gave this as a gift without realizing it was more than a plaid shirt. Only downside is the magnets make it stick to the dryer. Material is great and quick to dry.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice shirt, slightly undersized in the shoulders I generally buy my concealment shirts bigger than I need but this one was a bit tight in the shoulders. All other features of the shirt are great and the magnet pockets are amazing. If they fit more like the STL shirt propper would have a real winner.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Weird Fit I wear an XL in every other shirt I own. This one fits weird and the inward taper of the bottom is odd, the rip open sides are annoying and pull open easily. The magnet closures on the inside of the pockets are useless, you can't put you phone or wallet in there pocket without wiping out the CC and causing issues with the phone. The color is nice and thats about it . Total let down

How do you remove the wrinkles in these shirts?

Asked by: Joezaza
A cool iron can help remove some wrinkles. However, not all the wrinkles will come out because it is a gaberdine fabric that naturally wrinkles a little.

Will these be re-released, or is there a new shirt that is replacing the line? I love these shirts, and are sad about losing the option to purchase more in the future.

Asked by: Brad
This is being discontinued and not replaced. Sorry.

This shirt is excellent! The fit and features are great, from the covert snaps to the mesh lining at the shoulders. I have washed this shirt more than a dozen times with no shrinkage, fading or pilling. All of the seams are holding up well with no noticeable fraying. The snaps and Velcro side openings allow easy, quick access to any equipment or firearm. I used this shirt on the range and around town; it was very comfortable even when the temperature and humidity moved into the uncomfortable area. Propper has a great product with the Covert Button Up Shirt; I definitely recommend it!

I tested out the short sleeve button up shirt from Propper International. The shirt seemed to be sized properly and didn't shrink too much after it was washed. The two large pockets with magnetic closures made the shirt in my opinion. I placed my Glock 30 inside of it and it held it in place just fine. I showed it to numerous people and they told me they couldn't tell where I had placed the gun from looking at me. You can access the pockets of the shirt in no time and it was easy for me to get my gun out. It never snagged on anything inside of the shirt. It was a comfortable shirt to wear yet durable. I think it is a great shirt for plain clothes officers/detectives. The only negative thing I noticed was it stayed somewhat wrinkled after washing; granted, this is a very minor thing and not something that would deter me from purchasing the shirt.

I recently tested the Propper Covert Button-Up short sleeve shirt. I am generally not one to wear tactical-like clothing when I'm off duty, but this shirt doesn't really scream "tactical." The shirt is well-designed, with Velcro tear away seams that allow quick and easy access to a pancake or IWB holster. The shirt also features two magnetically closed pouches on either side on the chest, which Propper advertises as document pouches. Not originally realizing that these pouches were designed to hold "documents", I decided to test the pouches for concealed carry. For testing purposes, I put a S&W M&P Shield in one pouch, and a .38 snubby in the other. I was actually surprised by how well the shirt supported and concealed two handguns without "printing" the outline of the gun. It was comfortable to wear and seemed to be a pretty viable option when another carry option may not be feasible. I have been pleased with the quality of Propper apparel in the past and this shirt was no exception.

Reviewer 4

For years I've seen covert shirt products in police catalogs and been very skeptical. I always thought these were gimmicky and made for the "Tackleberry types" out there. I was shocked that a month after getting the Propper International Covert Button-Up Shirt, it has become a staple in my daily attire. The Covert Button-Up shirt is a comfortable, well designed everyday shirt. I've received compliments from others in my office that it looks professional and fits the Friday business casual dress code well. Wearing the shirt untucked allows me to cover up my Batman utility belt without the tell-tale print of a gun, mag pouch, handcuffs and cell phone for the public to see. The hidden pocket features of the Covert Button-Up Shirt are a nice feature as they allow for small items such as credentials, business cards, notepad or an extra magazine. There are pen pockets on the sleeves but keeping pens in them defeats the purpose of a covert shirt. The tear-away button down front design and side Velcro seams made accessing my weapon and magazines easy on range day. As a tall, big guy (48L jacket size), I'm always cautious about throwing shirts in the dryer. This shirt has survived weekly washing machine and dryer cycles with no problems. The collar is still nice and crisp with no curling, while the rest of the shirt remains wrinkle free. The shirt fits the same as it did from day one. There is plenty of room in the shoulders and chest, while not feeling bulking and billowy in the midsection. I tested a size XL and was very happy with the fit of the shirt. I would recommend this shirt for both plainclothes duty wear and off-duty everyday wear. My opinion on covert shirts has changed for the better because of the Propper Covert Button-Up Shirt. This shirt impressed me so much, I've already ordered two more in different colors. If you are looking for a sharp-looking, quality alternative to your department embroidered polo, this is the shirt for you.
