About Us

For more than 40 years, making tactical gear with a purpose has been our way of life

Life is about taking action, making the right moves, and never letting anything get in the way. Propper knows that. That’s why we’ve dedicated ourselves to making gear that keeps you moving, wherever the action is — whether you’re in the service, on the job or off for the weekend.

Propper was founded in 1967 by William T. Propper, an entrepreneur with a passion for manufacturing. With hard work and a dedicated staff, Propper eventually landed its first government contract with the U.S. Navy, manufacturing caps known as “Dixie cups.” As the years marched on, we grew our business – and our reputation for quality.

Today, Propper continues to design and manufacture gear for tactical, law enforcement, public safety and military professionals that works right, right when it’s supposed to.

We don’t just make the best gear out there. We make it right – right to the core.

Our Design Lab

Propper Design Lab

From design to delivery, we’re driven by good people making really good gear. It’s a difference you can feel in every stitch, every seam and every pocket. And it all starts at our Design Lab, located at Propper headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri.

This 4,000-square-foot think tank is dedicated to the research, development and design of new products. Here, we transform gear concept sketches to finished prototypes that feel as authentic and durable as the real thing. From there, our product development and global sourcing departments work hand-in-hand to bring our biggest and best ideas to life.

From Sewing to Shipping

Our 100,000-square-foot distribution center in Waverly, Tennessee is EDI capable, RFID capable, and government bill and hold capable, helping us deliver everything our partners need on time, and on spec.

We cut and sew our apparel and gear in our very own 9001-2008 ISO-Certified production facilities in Haiti and Dominican Republic. Propper’s Berry-Compliant production facility in Puerto Rico handles additional cutting and sewing, in addition to pattern-grading, permanent press, permethrin treatments, stone washing, enzyme and garment dying, and certified GORE-TEX seam sealing.

Like our gear, our service, manufacturing, and shipping capabilities are designed to bring you more than you’d ever expect.
