The Expandable Backpack transforms to suit whatever the situation requires. Ample storage and organization throughout is increased by unzipping an extra 2" in depth for even more storage. Dual side access rear compartment allows for secure laptop storage or a quick-access location for CCW storage.
Rated 5 out of 5 by RogVL from WOW ! What a great backpack this one is. Received this backpack last week and loaded up with items I will be using on my trip. Packed a computer, cameras and equipment, recording equipment, clothing, all the cords, and some personal items. Packed it full. I have never ever had such a comfortable backpack in my life. As a big man, the straps are great, and fits perfectly on me. As an outdoor writer I can take my whole office with me now and feel good about it. I was worried the straps won't fit me, but they do fit. Thanks for making a backpack I can use now every day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ben T. from Great for Anything and Everything It's a durable bag with a lot of dividers/compartments. On a daily basis, I use it as my school bag. It also works well as a range bag or go bag, since it's big enough (and will expand) to accommodate for your needs. The padding on the back and shoulder straps will alleviate a lot of pressure if you're carrying a heavy load. The padding on the back creates a nice air channel even if you have a lot of things in your bag. Personally, I chose this bag over the Propper U.C. bag since this has less MOLLE pattern, thus looking less 'tactical' in black. I love this bag and will take it with me everywhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JB from Best laptop bag I've found. I've been using this bag since I got it for Christmas. The padding is awesome, and there's a lot of storage. It holds my laptop and all my tools with no problem. Fully loaded with the same stuff, my old bag felt much heavier - it must be the thicker straps and cushion. I highly recommend this pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jeff W. from Awesome Pack That Will Last A Lifetime ! I recently purchased one of your Expandable Backpacks and have been using it everyday riding my motorcycle 50 miles back & forth to work. It sincerely feels more comfortable due to it's U-shaped shoulder strap design and actually feels like I am carrying a lighter load compared to the other pack that I was using. It has the same dimensions as the other pack as well, but after I transferred everything I had in the other pack into the new Propper pack there was more space left over without even unzipping the expansion feature. I bought this pack mainly because I have been buying Propper BDU's ever since I was in the service and everything I've have ever purchased from you in the past has always been very durable and made to Mil-Spec. The Expandable Back Pack is manufactured to the same specifications and I am very confident that I will get a ton of use out of it. Thank you for making durable high quality products. You can count on me to be a customer for life ! :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by hannah from Lots of storage space Have used for a few months now carrying my laptop and other gear back and forth to work and taken it on a few overnight trips. It has a lot of interior space to begin with and unzips to add more. I easily packed enough clothing for a few days in this pack. I really like the nice big exterior pockets on the front. And there is a separate space in the back that works great for my 17" laptop.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Rocky6053 from Straps poor quality I like how this bag is kind of sleek and compact compared to the other tactical bags like SOG or something that is just big and bulky with straps hanging from everywhere. This has almost never snagged on anything for me. I like how it keeps its shape and is almost free standing. It has worked great, even with heavy loads, except one day I had a very light load of a parka, shooting gloves and a small 50 page text book, overall load maybe 5lbs and the strap stitching came apart right where the buckle meets the foam padding. It wasn’t until then I took a closer look at the stitching and it just seems like they cut some corners to save some money there. Other than that it works good.

Rated 1 out of 5 by lauren3 from Broken after minimal use After minimal use and <1year the strap on the backpack broke. Not well made. Does this company have a warranty? If they were well made they would definitely last more then one year. Going back to LL Bean now...

I am looking for an everyday backpack and think the Propper Expandable might work. Is this available with an armored plate IIIA or better? Preferably IV? I don't see an option to add Armour to these backpacks??? Please let me know. Thanks!
The Expandable Backpack has a slim compartment on the back that will accommodate Level IIIA soft armor or a Level III or IV plate. We sell armor that fits into this backpack. Please see our Armor section for more information on how these systems work together.

With reviews from three different NTOA members, the Propper® Expandable Backpack received their seal of approval garnering an overall score of 4.52 out of a possible 5 with its design, performance and durability praised across the board.
I tested out the Expandable Backpack from Propper International. This backpack is awesome! It has tons of room and separate compartments for just about anything. I took it to the OBX beach on vacation and I carried three full- sized beach towels, my shoes, my dog's water bowl, water, snacks and a bunch of other items and it held everything great. It still had plenty of room to hold other stuff if I needed it. I also carried it around with numerous different SWAT items (clothes, gun, magazines and ammunition) to see how the straps and zippers held up and it had no problems. The shoulder straps have plenty of padding and it was comfortable to carry around with everything inside of it. The backpack had so many different sized compartments that you can carry just about anything you would want in this backpack. I would definitely buy this backpack. It has so many different sized compartments it's ridiculous.
The Propper Expandable backpack is a versatile, well-constructed, multi-purpose backpack, suitable for personal or work use. The backpack I tested was black, but it is available in coyote and olive as well. Measuring 19" H x 13" W x 9" D, the backpack is roomy enough for most gear and adds an additional two inches in depth when expanded. I found the backpack to be extremely lightweight and rugged. The organization of the pockets is well thought out. There are two front pockets with Molle straps and hook/loop on the exterior for customization, along with side pockets that expand to accommodate a water bottle. There is also a small zippered pocket on the top of the pack which has a "soft-touch" lining for a phone or similar device. The main interior of the backpack is quite large, with a zippered mesh pocket for storing smaller items and a padded laptop compartment. I particularly appreciated the oversized, rubber zipper pulls; they were very easy to find and manipulate with gloves and/or wet hands. The padded shoulder straps were very comfortable and are fully adjustable; there is also a sternum strap for added comfort. The design of the back panel was also impressive. The exterior of the panel is padded for comfort, as well as to allow for air flow. The back panel also fully unzips to accommodate more storage, including a hanger and "pass-thru" for a hydration system. Finally, there is another hook/loop panel on about the bottom third of the panel for more customization. I found this backpack from Propper to be one of the better packs I have owned, in terms of both durability and functionality.
