Propper International is currently recruiting for a Data Base Administrator for their IT team.  This position is located at the Corporate Headquarters office in the Missouri Research Park in St. Charles, MO. 

JOB FUNCTION

Responsible for reporting and data base administration.  Involved with design, development, support, and maintenance of reporting applications, BI reporting tools, SQL programming, RPG programming, and dimensional data base schemas for DB2/400 and MS SQL based reporting applications. Further responsibilities include technical documentation, interaction with users and support technical groups, all phases of testing and defect tracking.  Past programming experience, DB infrastructure, scripting (PowerShell), VMware will be very helpful.  Skills with SharePoint, AWS and cloud services may be needed later, but not immediately.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Provide excellent customer support and follow-up.
  • Able and willing to work in a team environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and personal skills.
  • Develop advanced SQL queries and create reports for routine and ad hoc report requests for reporting requirements.
  • Perform requirements analysis and write design specifications, other technical documentation, and instruction manuals.
  • Review and analyze reports prior to release to ensure data integrity.
  • Develop, install, and maintain custom software applications, reports, programs, and data conversion/validation programs.
  • Monitor the ticket tracking system to ensure incoming requests are processed in a timely manner.
  • Perform data entry into ticket tracking system to provide status updates and document report completion.
  • Provide training and support to users as needed.
  • Experience with EDI and coordination of EDI efforts with SPS.
  • Some experience in APIs and XML or willingness to learn.
  • Experience with SQL maintenance, clustering, failover and optimization.
  • May need to work some nights, weekends or holiday to perform maintenance, as needed.
  • Carry a company phone.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Exceptional customer support and interpersonal skills with ability to handle difficult situations, work under stress, and resolve a broad range of problems/requests.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and ability to explain technology easily to those who do not understand advance computer topics.
  • Able to work quickly and effectively with strong time management, prioritization and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work and contribute to a team environment to accomplish overall team objectives
  • Keen attention to detail, with a commitment to follow through and follow-up.
  • Able to manage small projects.

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE

  • 3-5 years experience with SQL, SQL Server.
  • 1-3 years experience with Crystal Reports, Stored Procedures, and Sequel Viewpoint or other reporting software.
  • Experience with database design/architecture which may involve SAN/NAS, virtualization and sizing for new servers and migrations.
  • Experience with backup and restore options within database servers.
  • Any MS certifications or other certifications.
  • Preferred 1-3 years’ experience with DB2/400.
