Rated 5 out of 5 by from Damn good pants. I've got several pairs of these in different colors. My olive drab pair, I've had for about 6 years and worn maybe 3-4 times a week in those last 6 years. I only ordered a new pair because they've started to come undone at the seams. Not a single hole in them aside from a tiny burn hole from an ember while camping. I really hope these NEVER get discontinued. They're perfect for anyone looking for a solid work pant that doubles for hiking or just about anything else you need it for. I've tried tactical pants before, but the cargo pockets are too small, I've tried the newer combat utility pants, but they're just too thin and I don't trust the cargo pockets on those to hold up to years of abuse from tools or whatever else you put in them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sizing is very off. I ordered the LL. I'm always fearful of any pant that is not sized properly. These say an LL is 35-39. I figured I could live with it... I can't. I wear a 36. I have several Propper Lightweight Tactical Pants that I love. After I tried these on I measured the Waist and it was 40"... crazy big. So back they go. As far as the design and workmanship... it's pretty good. It's not up to par with the Lightweight Tactical Pants but it's close. I'm giving them 1 Star because no matter how good they are if they are so far off sized... what's the point? If they actually fit properly I'd give them 3.5 Stars, but they don't. I guess if you are a 38 to 40 then the LL is just your ticket!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from LOVE the pants, HATE the lousy customer service! Propper makes the best cotton pants ever. My last pair I wore for 10 years until they were threadbare. But, upon trying to order another pair online, I found Propper's web site to be none user friendly. The items chosen don't match up with the photos posted. It is unclear how the items will be delivered. Customer service, although nice, was not helpful in getting my online order fulfilled. They provided me a tracking number when I requested it via email, but failed to tell me who was delivering it (ie., UPS, FEDEX, USPS, etc.). Lastly, it took way too long for me to get my pants (almost 10 business days.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from These pants area great I still have some old uniform pants, that don't fit me any longer. I ordered two pairs of these pants and I really like them. The reason I don't love them is that the cinch adjustment on the sides of the waistband are made out of the same material as the pants. Therefore they don't hold the tightness you apply to them. The issued pants' cinch strap was made out of a woven strap material, so when you tightened it, it stayed put. That is the one improvement I would make to these pants.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best BDU's I wear the 60% cotton/ 40% poly twill pants at work as an armed courier, and when I go into the mountains hiking and camping. I've had my last three pairs for two years and they still look great! As long as Propper keeps making these pants, I'll keep buying them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from button fly urban camo - BRING THEM BACK!!! please! love them. i just recently ordered the woodland but about 5, 6 years ago they used to make the urban camo, white, black, & grey bdu pants with the button up instead of the zipper. i tried the zipper ones on in a store near me & they were to tight on my crotch. the button ones are loser and bulge out more in the crotch area were i need room. PLEASE for the love of god they were like my favs... i still love the woodland and plan on getting a pair of the olive but PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE the urban camo, grey, black, & white were the best looking on me. PLEASE, PLEASE add them back. i know you made them like that cuz they are sitting in my room right now. only thing is i used to be a large & i am literally the correct body weight now at 5'8 148 lbs and i NEED THEM :-) haha need them please add them back. i will give a 5 star review if you do lol

With the drawstrings let out all the way are the like bootcut? What’s the measurement? I don’t plan on tightening the drawstrings do they will go over my boots?

Asked by: Firedog
I usually tie the ankles outside my boots, so the leg openings are big enough to fit over my boot tops. If you don't want to use the drawstrings, I suppose you could remove them so the dangling ends don't get hung in stuff.

Is the short vs. the regular length not just shorter in the inseam, but shorter in the rise and waist as well?  Or are they just an exact version of the regular with shorter legs?

Asked by: Laura
The length is an inseam measurement.

How relaxed is the seat and thigh through these pants? I have 27 inch legs but with a 34 waist. Generally, I buy a size 36 waist relaxed fit Carhartt with stretch to be able to move comfortably.

Asked by: az789
BDUs are very baggy, more baggy than our traditional tactical product. You can assume that a 36” waist in a Carhartt actually measures around 37.5” to 38” by tape measure, so if we start with a short inseam for his length and the appropriate waist, we should be good. However, he should know that this BDU does not have a stretch component to the fabric.

Is the BDU treated for insect repelling?

Asked by: Butch
No. There are some U.S. issue ACU clothes that are Permethrin treated to repel insects, and you can buy the Permethrin spray and apply it yourself. I don't know how permanent it is. But these BDU trousers from Propper are untreated.

Why can't Fabric Softener or dryer sheets be used on 60/40 twill Tactical BDU's ?

Asked by: nhdoclt
In general, dryer sheets (or even liquid fabric softener) are meant to do two things - 1) soften fabric and 2) reduce static cling. The way this works is by coating the garments with a chemical softener on the dryer sheets. This chemical rubbing onto a garment, particularly a synthetic garment that is meant to wick or quick dry will have the porous fabric become clogged over time, causing that effect to be constricted. Also, bacteria from sweat will potentially live on this material because the clothing does not wick and dry as easily, which could cause the garment to have a stronger odor over time and repeated washings. In short, if the fabric is already soft, avoiding fabric softener is generally a good idea because fabric softener simply coats the item in chemicals that inhibit the product's performance. However, it is not going to otherwise ruin the product simply by being present. In this case, the 60/40 twill, while not a performance fabric will have its breathability hampered by fabric softener/dryer sheets in an effort to artificially improve hand by making it slicker/softer.
