Rated 5 out of 5 by Starman213 from Perfect Pants -- Will Replace my Jeans for EDC Guys I waited for these pants since they were announced at NRA 2018. They're worth the wait. It's as if these HLX pants were custom made for me with all the features I want in a pant for EDC. Fine for the office and nice enough for casual dinner. The features described don't go far enough to explain the benefits. What I love about these pants: - For me, they sit right at the waist. Just like my favorite 501's they sit right at the waist. I tried other competitive pants, but some sit too low for me. - Cotton Canvas, that word threw up a yellow flag. I thought they'd be too heavy but but they're not. The material feels just right, just slightly lighter in weight than my 36 x 29 501's. -Pockets. Not enough is mentioned about the features of the pockets. One word. Zippers! if you're going hands on with a suspect in a ground tussel, you won't have to worry about you credentials or wallet falling out of your back pocket. The back pockets have zippers with a small spring retractable (how'd they do that?!) tab that tucks in right under the pocket trim. Very tailored looking. Plus the pockets are deep enough for those larger credential wallets. The zippers are also on the side thigh pockets too. The front pockets have a very nice tailored gusset for my knife. Other brands have an oversized (my opinion) L-shaped shelf for one's knife. Too tactical for me. The triangular gusset on the HLX front pocket looks, again, very tailored. - I like the trimmer form of the pant legs. They have a more modern look. - The material has some stretch to it, hardly noticeable when you tug on it but they feel great when you sit. - Size. They run true to size. I'll end by saying that I've bought pants from other major suppliers and they always fell short with one or another feature that I wish they had. These pants have all the features that I have wanted in a EDC/work pant. Finally, my perfect pants.

Rated 4 out of 5 by JBLS from Best propper pants yet. Really like the fit and pocket layout. My only complaint is that there is a mild permanent crease that runs down the front of the leg. I now have 3 pairs of these in different colors and all three have that crease. Also, I reallly like there there are no rip-stop squares.

Rated 3 out of 5 by CaptJLPicard from Nice shot, but off center and to the left After a difficult ordering process with the website not taking my order twice, I finally was able to get my HLX pants. My prior purchase was RevTac pants and by far I prefer the function and design of RevTac. As for the HLX, kudos for the look and some of the design. These pants would be 5 star with a little TLC from the design engineer. They look like expensive dress pants and I have worn with a tie and coat and look very professional on my job as a special investigator. The fit overall is great. Adding a waistband like the RevTac and inner holes to tug on the shirt tail would be a welcome improvement and moving the inner fly hole button to a flap that's a little more strategically placed would help. The real negatives are that the rear pockets with the constricting zipper opening, while very secure, make it almost impossible to get my hands in the rear pockets and I do not have very large hands. I can't imagine some of my police officer or military friends getting their hands in the pockets. The front top pockets are placed in a very awkward position and if I wore any type of duty belt, they would be useless, though they are nice and deep, it's the cut and placement. The mag/cell pockets are almost perfect but when you sit in your vehicle or in a chair, it is still a bit difficult to pull a standard smartphone out of the pocket (a mag would be a bit easier). They need to be down 1" and out more towards the outer thigh, standing they are just fine. Side zipper pockets are ok but again, the zipper restricts the opening and they are near impossible to zip back up without both hands, which may be just a zipper issue and not placement. I would suggest changing the angle of the side pockets to a more upward diagonal for added ease of use and changing the zipper pulls with something easier and a bit easier to pull up. The material is nice, though I'm not sure why the inner inseam is cut from 2 separate pieces of material, which is a bit strange but overall, very good. I really wanted to give the pants a 5 star rating but since I am just a regular guy that likes to wear these type of pants for the function, I cannot imagine a LEO or military guy wearing these without some negative experience. Even a small Kimber Micro 9 was very visible in the thigh pocket when I went out which was another reason I am dropping a star. I wish I had just spent less and got the RevTac's again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Kenn Kenn from Good look, no stretch Pants look great. I never liked the ultra tactical 15 pocket look, so these fit my style perfectly. The pants have pretty much zero stretch though, including the little stretch panels and crotch. I do powerlifting and have pretty thick legs and I could hardly move in these, but just standing straight up they were comfortable

Rated 3 out of 5 by adil from Close, real close, but still no cigar! Main Point1) Fit feels more "athletic" than roomy 2) Once you fill the front pockets the athletic fit really hits! i.e. the pants feel tight 3) Canvas material has no stretch. There are the stretch panels but the main bulk of material doesn't and this has an impact on mobility 4) items in the side zippered pockets leave a really obvious imprint so be careful when you put things inside these 5) the thigh pockets in the front can be deeper. Ive got a smaller smartphone and the pocket barely covers the height of this 6) Overall the design isn't exactly low profile. The discontinued District Pants does a better job in this regard
